<p>As part of the Sound Symposium Festival the Canadian New Music Network is pleased to invite you to a conversation on ways to envision a sustainable future for artists and organizations involved in music and sound creation, as well as for cultural workers and audiences.part of the Longshadow Festival, the Canadian New Music Network is pleased to invite you to a conversation on ways to envision a sustainable future for artists and organizations involved in music and sound creation, as well as for cultural workers and audiences.</p>



<p>July 17, 2024 from 1:30pm at the First Light Event Space, 42 Bannerman Street in St. John’s, NL.</p>



<p>Join us in a facilitated discussion of questions including:</p>



<p class="has-text-align-left">     ·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; How can music and sound organizations support artistic works and initiatives that both promote greater awareness of climate issues and engage in the authoring of a healthier world?</p>



<p class="has-text-align-left">     ·&nbsp;&nbsp;How is language and policy shifting to address the impact of climate on music and sound practice and presentation?</p>



<p class="has-text-align-left">     ·&nbsp;&nbsp;What tools and support can arts organizations like CNMN offer to support the continued relevance and viability of our sector? What is reasonable or radical?</p>



<p class="has-text-align-left">     ·&nbsp;&nbsp;How can we as individuals and as a community process and move through the&nbsp;challenging emotions that&nbsp;transformation and sustainability may evoke: from (eco)grief, complacency, complicity, to overwhelm and isolation.&nbsp;</p>



<p class="has-text-align-left">     ·&nbsp;How do we ground our organizations and ourselves in practical optimism, taking tangible steps towards a more sustainable world?</p>

<p>This conversation will be moderated by Raphaël Foisy-Couture, CNMN’s Executive Director, in partnership with Terri Hron, Musician and Chief Editor of Revue Circuit, and former CNMN’s ED as well as Sustainable Futures Project Lead.</p>



<p>The discussion will be introduced by a short musical activity by <a href="https://kathykennedy.ca/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Kathy Kennedy</a>.</p>

<p><br>The Canadian New Music Network and&nbsp;<a href="https://levivier.ca/en" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Le Vivier</a>&nbsp;invite you to a&nbsp;<strong>Conversation on Sustainable Futures</strong>&nbsp;for music and sound artists&nbsp;and organizations, art workers and audiences. The meeting aims to reflect collectively on the issues that lie ahead and, particularly among funders, to present some issues and resources such as the Creative Green Tools.</p>



<p>Le Vivier adopted a green policy in 2020 and obtained the Eco-Responsible Scene Accreditation for all of its actions in terms of sustainable development. This think tank has been organized to continue in this direction and on the invitation of the CNMN to join their consultation.</p>



<p>On this occasion, we will welcome a representative of the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec as well as the Conseil des événements écoresponsables for a short presentation, followed by a question period.&nbsp;</p>
